
ESSAY
The Committee on Bar Admissions administers a written examination, which consists of two parts: A nine-part written examination (Part I). Part I is primarily essay and may include multiple-choice questions.
Part I: Nine-Part Exam includes:
- Civil Code I
- Civil Code II
- Civil Code III
- Louisiana Code of Civil Procedure
- Torts
- Business Entities
- Constitutional Law
- Criminal Law, Procedure and Evidence
- Federal Jurisdiction and Procedure
Step 1: The JDI will review previous writing samples provided by the client. These writing samples are either timed or untimed samples.
Step 2: The JDI will assess the clients’ strengths and weaknesses and provide written and oral feedback.
Step 3: Throughout the program, the student is expected to complete multiple timed essays and correct their mistakes.
Step 4: The JDI performs oral think-a-louds to aid the client in understanding how they could improve their issue spotting, develop a concise analysis, and accurately recall the law.
